Description
María Mercedes es una hermosa joven de barrio, hija de Manuel, un hombre que, debido a que su esposa lo abandonó, se convierte en alcohólico. María Mercedes tiene tres hermanos: Memo, Rosario y Andrés. Trabaja vendiendo billetes de lotería y como payasita en las esquinas de las calles. Un día conoce a Jorge Luis, un joven guapo y de clase alta que vive con su madre y su hermana en la casa de su primo Santiago, en calidad de parientes arruinados. Malvina, su madre, sólo espera la muerte del primo, pues padece de una grave enfermedad, para apoderarse de su fortuna. Jorge Luis vive con un profundo dolor, ya que su ex esposa fue asesinada el día de su boda, y no quiere volver a amar. María Mercedes se enamora de él, pero Malvina quiere que inicie una relación con Mística, una extravagante pero cruel mujer. Para contradecir la voluntad de su madre, Jorge Luis se casa con María Mercedes, pero sin amor, aunque un cambio radical en ella hará que éste la empiece a ver de diferente manera y actúe guiado por el amor y no por la venganza o ambición.
Description
Maria Mercedes, abandoned by her mother and raised by her drunken father, provides the only support to her ungrateful family. Millionaire Santiago Del Olmo hasn't long to live, and not wanting his sister to have his fortune he offers to marry Maria.
