Description
At the end of the 19th century, sisters Lavinia and Hazel Murphy escape from an orphanage and set up shop as spiritualists in New York City's Washington Square area. A wealthy client, Wilhelm Vanadder trying to contact his deceased true love and mother of his illegitimate child Edward Stuyvesant-French, dies in the sisters'parlour. Lavinia inherits his wealth. Edward vows to expose the sisters as frauds, but is deeply attracted to Lavinia as she is to him, her worst enemy.
