El señor fotógrafo: Cantinflas, fotógrafo ambulante, es capturado por unos gangsters cuando trataba de coger unas flores para su novia, Consuelo. Los gangsters le han confundido con el ayudante del doctor Penongo, científico que ha descubierto la fórmula de una nueva bomba atómica. Mientras tanto, Penongo ha sufrido un accidente de automóvil y ha perdido la memoria.

Si yo fuera diputado: Cantinflas es un singular barbero que, entre corte y corte de pelo, recibe lecciones de leyes de una anciano vecino. Éste le propone asesoramiento para defender en los tribunales a los desfavorecidos del barrio. Su éxito en estas lides le procura los votos del distrito en las eleccionas a diputado, ya que el otro candidato, don Pulcro, no es aceptado por nadie.

Si yo fuera diputado: The owner of a barber shop has begun to study the law with the help of Tio Juan, once a very successful attorney who is now too ill to practice. Before long, the barber begins his law practice and goes on to win many cases. Eventually he runs for office against the local political machine.
