Notes

General Note
"This edition is not a facsimile of the original. Instead we enlarged the original images in the tales and placed them closer to their appearance in the text. We also added new oversized details in the front section and appendix ... We also added three essays, tale introductions, pull quotes, and captions for the black-and-white images (which are without captions in the original 1914 edition). This reprint is based on the first trade edition, Hodder & Stoughton, 1914"--Appendix.
General Note
Original reprinted edition 2015.
General Note
"The ten tales in this abridged reprint are replications of those that appeared in the original 1914 East of the sun and west of the moon, with minor corrections and updates. Eight come from the first English translation of the Norwegian tales, Popular tales from the Norse from 1859 by Sir George Webbe Dasent. Two additional tales, not translated by Dasent, were added: "Prince Lindworm" (a Danish folktale collected by Danish historian Svend Grundtvig in 1855 and translated into English in 1914 by an unknown translator) and "The three princesses in the blue mountain" (by Asbjørnsen and Moe, translated by H.L. Brækstad, and published in 1897 by publisher David Nutt)"--Appendix.
Description
A collection of ten Norwegian folk and fairy tales illustrated by well-known Danish artist Kay Nielsen.
